City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series? The Mortal Instruments
Aquired From: Own
Summary:  When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Cover Rating: 4/5
Comments on the Cover: It's pretty cool. I like how you can see the markings on Jace's chest ;)
Character Comments: Jace annoyed me. I know he's supposed to be all sexy and brooding, and yeah, he was, but he was annoying. Isabelle was shallow. Clary was stupid and Simon... well, Simon was Simon.
Favorite Characters: Magnus
Character Rating: 2/5
Plot line rating: 4/5
Plot Line Comments: The demon hunting is cool. It's different, at least for me. I didn't like the ending though. Cuz I was totally shipping Clary/Jace and then all of the sudden... THAT happened. Not okay.

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart

Title: The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks
Author: E. Lockhart
Series? None
Aquired From: Public Library
Summary: Frankie Landau-Banks at age 14:
Debate Club.
Her father’s “bunny rabbit.”
A mildly geeky girl attending a highly competitive boarding school.
Frankie Landau-Banks at age 15:
A knockout figure.
A sharp tongue.
A chip on her shoulder.
And a gorgeous new senior boyfriend: the supremely goofy, word-obsessed Matthew Livingston.
Frankie Laundau-Banks.
No longer the kind of girl to take “no” for an answer.
Especially when “no” means she’s excluded from her boyfriend’s all-male secret society.
Not when her ex boyfriend shows up in the strangest of places.
Not when she knows she’s smarter than any of them.
When she knows Matthew’s lying to her.
And when there are so many, many pranks to be done.
Frankie Landau-Banks, at age 16:
Possibly a criminal mastermind.
This is the story of how she got that way.
Cover Rating: 4/5
Comments on the Cover: When I first got the book, my thoughts were "An envelope with a... is that a dog?!?!" but when you read the book, it makes alot more sense and is actually pretty cool. I'm still not the biggest fan, though, I think they could have done something much cooler.
Character Comments: Frankie is the new girl on the block of fantabulous heroines in YA lit. She has spunk, a brain, and everything a good female character should have. She reminded me alot of the main character in the Gallagher Girls series
Favorite Characters: Frankie and Trish
Character Rating: 3/5
Plot line rating: 3/5
Plot Line Comments: Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the book, but it reminded me alot of other boarding school stories, for example, The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter (as forementioned). I thought the secret society was an interesting twist, but unlike the description of the book, I wouldn't really call Frankie "a criminal mastermind". A trouble maker, maybe. But a criminal mastermind? No.
Likeliness to reread it? 2/5
Overall rating: 3/5

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Title: Mockingjay
Author: Suzanne Collins
Series? Yes
Aquired From: Kindle
Summary: The final book of the critically acclaimed Hunger Games Trilogy. It's finally time for Katniss to choose between her best friend Gale and her new friend and love, Peeta. The Capital has taken over and Katniss is finally the official Mockingjay. Who will live? Who will she choose?
Review: Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. But then again, when does any book you've been waiting almost a year for? The story line was depressing and there was so much loss and death. The epilogue, which you think would add a little bit of happiness, just added more mystery and disappointment.
Cover Rating: 3/5
Comments on the Cover: Worked well with the covers for the Hunger Games and Catching Fire.
Character Comments: Peeta, who I loved in the other books, became plain annoying and I could barely stand any of them. Too much angst. Although, I did like how they developed through the trilogy.
Favorite Character: Peeta will always have a special place in my heart.
Character Rating: 3/5
Plot line rating: 2/5

Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles

Title: Rules of Attraction
Author: Simone Elkeles
Other Books in this series: Perfect Chemistry
Summary: Carlos Fuentes is moving back to America from Mexico to live with his brother, Alex, in Colorado. And he is NOT happy about it. Carlos almost immediately begins to get into trouble and Alex sends him to live with his college professor and his family.
Enter Kiara, Carlos' peer guide and the professor's daughter. She's obviously not your average girl and definitely not the type that would be attracted to Carlos. But she is.
But there's more to Carlos then anyone realizes, including Carlos. Will these unknown secrets tear them apart?
Review: After I read Perfect Chemistry, I knew that I had gotten no where near enough of the Fuentes boys. I was a little disappointed when I first got this book from the library because it wasn't about Brittany and Alex's relationship. But I loved the new characters and learning more about the younger Fuentes brother. And let's be honest, I was happy that they at least included some depth in Brittany and Alex's relationship. When I started the book, I wasn't expecting anything near that.
Cover Rating: 5/5
Comments on the Cover: I LOVE these covers. So very hot and secretly telling oh so much about the contents of the book...
Character Comments: I LOVE Kiara. And Carlos. When you warm up to him. But Kiara is one of my favorite girl characters in a while.
Favorite Character: Kiara! But I still love Alex
Character Rating: 4/5
Plot line rating: 4/5
Likeliness to reread it? Well, since I reread it... 3/5
